Online Store Development in Cyprus
For people selling, not shopping: what to specify, what it costs in Cyprus, and what to settle before a developer writes any code.
Short answer
An online store built for Cyprus typically starts at about EUR 4,000 for an entry e-shop from one Limassol agency's 2026 pricing, with advanced shops from EUR 8,000. Settle payments, VAT display, delivery zones and languages before the build, because processors ask for a live site with terms, refund and privacy pages.
What does an online store cost in Cyprus?
We found one Cypriot seller that publishes tiers. A Limassol web agency's June 2026 guide lists entry e-shops from EUR 4,000, advanced e-shops from EUR 8,000 and marketplaces from EUR 15,000, with most of its own projects between EUR 2,000 and 8,000. The entry tier includes the first year of hosting and care, JCC or Stripe payments and SEO basics. Running costs for domain, hosting, email, SSL and backups start at EUR 390 a year from year two.
| Tier | Published price | What the seller says it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Entry e-shop | From EUR 4,000 | Custom design, mobile layout, JCC or Stripe payments, SEO basics, first year of hosting |
| Advanced e-shop | From EUR 8,000 | Stock or ERP sync, trade accounts, several languages, large catalogues |
| Marketplace or large platform | From EUR 15,000 | Multi-vendor selling, portals, ERP and CRM integrations |
That is one seller's marketing page, not a market survey. Treat it as a reference point. We do not publish our own prices: we quote in writing after a scoping call.
Decide these six things before the build starts
- What you sell and how many items. A shop with 15 products is a different job from one with 3,000.
- How customers pay. Stripe lists Cyprus among its supported countries, and JCC offers a gateway and pay-by-link. A 2026 payments guide adds PayPal, Viva Wallet and EMI accounts. Processors want a live site with prices, terms, refund and privacy pages before they approve you, so the site and the application move together.
- How VAT is shown and invoiced. Settle this with your accountant before the build, since it affects prices, invoices and tax settings. Our guide to selling online in Cyprus sets out the rates and the EU threshold.
- Where you deliver. List zones and delivery times. Ask carriers for written rate cards, since we found no independent Cyprus delivery price data.
- Which languages. Give each language its own URLs. A half-translated shop confuses customers and search engines.
- What returns look like. The EU gives consumers 14 days to withdraw from most online purchases, with exceptions for items such as made-to-order goods.
Who this suits, and who it does not
Many Cypriot shoppers buy online, though fewer than the EU average now. Eurostat data show that 58.2% of people aged 16 to 74 in Cyprus ordered goods or services online in the previous three months in 2025, against an EU average of 62.4%. In 2024 the two were level, at 60.3% and 60.2%.
A full custom store makes sense when you have a catalogue, repeat buyers or stock to manage. It does not make sense when you sell a handful of services. In that case a booking form with a payment link, or a simple builder store, costs far less and launches faster.
| Your situation | Likely fit |
|---|---|
| A few products, low volume | Hosted platform, minimal customization |
| Large catalogue, stock system, trade customers | Custom or heavily configured build |
| Services with deposits | Booking tool and payment link, not a full store |
| Selling mainly through marketplaces | Keep the marketplace; add a simple brand site |
How to compare platforms for a Cyprus store
Compare the platforms on these points and ignore headline subscription prices until you have, because plans change often and we have not quoted them here. Check each platform's current price page before deciding.
| Question | Why it matters in Cyprus |
|---|---|
| Does it support the payment provider you will use, such as Stripe or JCC? | Some providers integrate through a plugin that may or may not be maintained |
| Can it show prices and issue invoices the way your accountant needs? | VAT and invoice settings differ between platforms |
| Does it handle Greek and English properly, with separate URLs? | Half-translated shops lose customers and confuse search engines |
| Can you set delivery zones and rates by district? | Local delivery is rarely a single flat rate |
| Can you export your products, customers and orders? | You can move later without rebuilding |
| Who supports it, and in which hours? | A broken checkout costs sales by the hour |
Our Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison takes the two most common options through these questions.
